Spectra Technologies : Providing VDI which is Supported by Productivity Tools and Database Systems

CIO Vendor Generally enterprises and organizations run Windows XP or Windows 7 on many or all of their desktop PCs, either because migration typically requires costly hardware upgrades, time-consuming transfers of settings or there is simply no compelling reason to move users to a new OS. With this regard, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure utilizes server hardware to run desktop operating systems and application software inside a virtual machine. Users access virtual desktops using their existing PCs. This not only eliminates the need for workstation hardware upgrades, but also enables the user to switch between operating environments such as Windows XP and Windows 7.

Spectra Technologies which forayed into Data Center operations has been enabling its customers to use the Virtual Desktop over the internet, public and private cloud

Being an early adopter of VDI technologies, Spectra Technologies has been providing desktop computing solutions at low cost of ownership to heterogeneous industries and organizations. “We are an end to end system integrator as we start with integration of virtual desktops, customization of
operating systems by understanding and efficiently using the protocols for the remote connectivity, managing the data center, managing the bandwidth efficiency, and then giving a complete end to end solution,” shares Harbir Ghai, MD of Spectra Technologies.

Incepted in 2004, Spectra Technologies has been manufacturing and integrating specialized thin client and desktop computing solutions by offering the widest range of Virtual Desktop in the industry. Spectra Technologies which forayed into Data Center operations has been enabling its customers to use the Virtual Desktop over the internet, public and private cloud. The company’s products are based on industry-standard technologies but with unique and proprietary features, which are used with Microsoft Windows, Citrix, UNIX and Linux Terminal Services. The servers enable users to run any application that is supported by productivity tools, database systems and mainframe connectivity tools.

“The operating systems on virtual desktops are designed in such a way that they can be connected on to the private as well as public cloud. Depending on the multiple protocols offered by the industry, we are operating our own data center by the name of SpectraCloud,” explains Harbir Ghai. He adds that his team helps customers connect to various modes in public and private cloud. Being an end to end system integrator, Spectra Technologies follows a modular approach. “Owing to modular approach, and we are able to push in other solutions on our products,” unveils Harbir. All of Spectra’s virtual desktops have enough of variants, software or the operating system customization on to the platform so that it fits into different industry verticals.

Harbir envisions making virtual desktop more efficient and to grow the data center operations, wherein all SMEs come and host their servers or applications on to Spectra’s VDI. “We invite SMEs to use our infrastructure, virtual desktops and get into the Opex model instead of Capex model,”
signs of Harbir.
